First and foremost, we believe in compensating our people, not the positions in which they function. Simply put, we expect results and are more than willing to reward you for them. In this way, we encourage entrepreneurship, autonomy and personal growth.

We view compensation from a holistic approach. Because it's more than pay and benefits--it's opportunity, challenge, and issues important to the individuals.

We're in the business to make a profit and then reinvest it into our people, leading to even greater profit. It's a simple process and one that yields tremendous success. Join us and you'll have the power to truly affect change. We strive to accomplish this by following four simple principles:

Be Competitive: Michigan CAT offers competitive wages and salaries that are designed to attract and retain the highest quality employees and positively affect motivation to achieve individual and company goals. Michigan CAT's total compensation package includes:

  • Wages/Salaries
  • Merit Increases
  • Incentive Pay: Bonuses & Profit Sharing
  • Personal Sick Time
  • Vacation Days (Paid Time Off)
  • Holidays
  • Cafeteria-Style Benefits Plan

Be Fair: At Michigan CAT, we believe that employees should understand how they are paid. The existence of a pay structure increases employee awareness of specifically how one is compensated in a straightforward way with no surprises.

Recognize Employee Contribution: Established pay ranges reward employees systematically and fairly in line with each individual's contributions to the organization. Yearly performance appraisals assist in determining raise rates, bonuses, and promotion opportunities that are available here at Michigan CAT.

Offer Opportunities for Growth and Personal Challenges: Michigan CAT allows employees to take on opportunities and challenges where there is a belief that there is a value to the individual and organization.

Michigan CAT offers the expertise and equipment to meet the temporary power needs of facilities of virtually any size.

Power Products
From plant shutdowns to emergency outages, construction projects to entertainment events, we have the products and experience to meet your needs. Our diesel generator sets are available in single units from 15kW to 2500 kW and are trailer mounted for portability with many in sound attenuated enclosures for quiet operation. Natural gas and gas turbines are available up to 30 MW.

Planning For Temporary Power.
Although critical, planning for power need not be difficult. Here are three simple steps that will help you secure and maintain the rental power necessary to carry your facility successfully through a scheduled or emergency shutdown.

Plan Your Power Needs

STEP 1 Determine your facility's electrical load. Before you rent temporary power, you have to know how much you need. Full power, If you have to keep your whole facility operating as it would with utility-supplied power, you need to determine your aggregate electrical load. A statement of your electrical capacity is also available at your local utility. Priority Power, At times you may want to power only those electrical loads that serve critical functions at your facility; if so, you need to prioritize individual loads

STEP 2 Know where to rent generator sets and related equipment. Your rental generator sets are only as reliable as the supplier who backs them. Michigan CAT has the equipment you need and a staff qualified to solve your problems and service the machines. Here are basic questions to ask the supplier: What is the kilowatt range of your generator set rental fleet? Can you deliver immediately? What if I need a generator in the middle of the night, or during a holiday? How are your rental contracts structured? Have you ever rented generator sets to customers in my industry? What equipment/manpower do I need to provide? What technical service/support do you offer? How do I know my rental units are 100 percent reliable? What happens if a generator set I rent goes down?

STEP 3 Answer by thinking about the following before the power goes off at your facility. How will the generator sets get from the dealership to your facility. Where will you put the generator units? How will you get cable from the generators sets outside your building to electrical distribution boxes inside? Where will you get cable? Can you store enough fuel close to the area where you plan to keep the generator sets? Do you have people on staff who can hook up the generator sets and check to ensure they will operate properly?

Temporary Cooling: If you have short-term cooling needs for scheduled maintenance shutdowns, for supplemental cooling during hot weather, for special events or for emergencies - proper planning can save you time and money.

STEP 1
Planning Your Temperature Control Needs.
Your Cooling equipment rental supplier needs to know what kind of system will serve you best. Short term temperature control equipment comes in two basic varieties: Fluid cooling and Air conditioning.

Fluid Cooling
Fluid cooing applies to industrial processes that use a heat exchanger or process tank to maintain the temperature of a liquid.

Air Conditioning
Air conditioning involves maintaining temperature, moisture content, air movement and cleanliness of air in a defined space.

STEP 2
Planning Your Temperature Control Needs.
Before you rent temperature control equipment, you have to know how much capacity you need. Cooling load is measured in tons (English) or kilowatts (metric). Knowing what your current demands are will help us find the correct configuration for your needs.

Fluid Cooling
To help us calculate your cooling load please know the following:
-Liquid temperature entering the application
-Liquid temperature leaving the application
-Flow rate of liquid (gallons per minute)

Air Conditioning Application
To help us calculate your cooling load please know the following
-Size of the space to be cooled (sq./ft.)
-Space temperature and relative humidity desired
-Expected ambient temperature and expected relative humidity outside
-Number of people present
-Kind of activity being performed
-Type of structure and insulation
-Heat-producing equipment used in the space
-Air exchange requirement (if known)

STEP 3
Planning Your Temperature Control Needs.
Your temporary cooling equipment is only as good as the supplier who backs it. As part of your planning, find a rental equipment supplier who has the equipment you need and the staff qualified to solve your problems and service the machines. Before you choose a supplier, visit the operation and examine the rental cooling equipment. While your there, ask a few questions:
-What is the tonnage or kW range of your equipment?
-What are your delivery lead times?
-Can you deliver immediately in an emergency?
-What if I need equipment in the middle of the night or holiday?
-Who will supply hoses, flanges and ductwork for the cooling system?
-Do you offer temporary power and distribution equipment?
-Do you have experience in my specific industry or application?
-Do you have support staff available to answer my questions?

STEP 4
Planning Your Temperature Control Needs.
Before you have a need for temporary cooling, think carefully about the logistics. If you do, you will be able to get your rental equipment on-line in the shortest possible time. Consider:
-How will the equipment get from the dealer to your location?
-Where will you put the temperature control equipment?
-If your application calls for air conditioning, how will you duct the air into your building or other structure?
-If your application calls for fluid cooling rental chiller modules, how will you route and connect temporary piping to your system?
-Where can I get temporary hoses, pumps, valves and flanges for my application?
-What happens if I need temporary power and rental cooling equipment?
